If you are in LA and love Korean food, you won't want to miss out on this awesome event. You definitely want to check out the KTOWN NIGHT MARKET!!!
Today, I went to the 2014 KTOWN NIGHT MARKET for the first time! And I was so happy not only because of the awesome food, but because I was able to go to this awesome event with my best friend. Honestly, friends make everything so much more fun and overall better! I recommend planning to go with a close friend...and pigging out together! It makes it that much more enjoyable.
For those of you who don't know what it is, KTOWN NIGHT MARKET is a two day market, where they block off one whole street in KTOWN and have vendors come and sell everything from food, desserts, beauty products, accessories and more! You can choose to either go the first day or the second day, but I realized that most people don't really stay the whole entire time because there is only so much food you can eat... This one that I went to was a Halloween Festival so people dressed up! If you can tell in my pictures, I dressed up as a nerd, but still tried to look somewhat normal...I'm not really good at dressing up...
I will share with you all some of the foods that I tried at the night market today!!

1) The Original Ramen Burger by Keizo Shimamoto
I had seen so many pictures of this online and on Instagram, so this was the very first thing that I tried tonight. In between two noodle buns(?), there is a juicy patty with green onions, arugula, and a special sauce. At first, this was pretty good...It had lots of flavor and because the patty was juicy and flavorful because of the sauce, it was well-balanced with the regular noodle buns. I personally think that it would have been better if there were more vegetables, like the arugula. The sauce was salty, but still sweet, so it was also well-balanced. But after a while, towards the end, it didn't really settle well with my stomach. It started becoming little bit too heavy on my stomach. But maybe it was because that was the first thing I ate all day...YES, I was saving my stomach for tonight! The burger alone was $10, which I think is a little bit on the expensive side...
I think overall, this Ramen Burger is a very clever idea and it is definitely worth trying at least once. All the ingredients and flavors compliment each other...
My overall score for this Ramen Burger is:
6 out of 10...
2) Spiked Juices Strawberry Lemonade

2) Spiked Juices Strawberry Lemonade
I personally love the way these juices were prepared and packaged. I think the mason jars are so cute and the logo is adorable! All of the juices were fresh squeezed, and please let me clarify the name of this store. It is called Spiked Juices, but I promise there is no alcohol in these drinks...I double checked! There were four flavors, which included Watermelon-Mint, Strawberry Lemonade, Raspberry Lemonade, and Mint Lemonade. The two most popular ones were the Watermelon-Mint and Strawberry Lemonade. Tonight, I tried the Strawberry Lemonade and it was SUPER DELICIOUS!!
This was also more on the expensive side...$4 for a cup, $6 for a small mason jar, and $8 for a large mason jar...and $2 extra for a reusable lid and straw. But you could think of it as getting a drink and a mason jar!
For those of you who like watermelon, I recommend the Watermelon-Mint, but I personally do not like watermelon, so I went with the Strawberry-Lemonade.
They used fresh squeezed lemonade and fresh strawberry puree! It was not too sweet and not too sour, but it was really a good proportion of each. And it had an overall well-balanced flavor. It was really refreshing.
My overall score for the Spiked Juices Strawberry Lemonade is:
8.5 out of 10 (just because of the price)...
3) Mister Potato

3) Mister Potato
I have been wanting to try this for a very long time, and I finally got to try it today! It is pretty cool how they make this "POTATO TORNADO!" They deep fry the potato and you can choose which flavor you want on the potato after. They have flavors like Sour Cream & Onion, Korean BBQ, Sweet Chili, and more. I got half Korean BBQ and half Sweet Chili because the girl at the register said that a lot of people ordered their potato that way! And it was really good! It was more like potato chips on a stick. I thought it would be more on the softer side, but it was pretty crispy. Although it was yummy, I think you get tired of the taste after a while. I just wanted to get it because I had always wanted to eat it! And as you can see in the picture, I was super excited! I don't want to sound like a broken record, but this was more on the expensive side also. $5 for a regular and $7 for a large one! But no regrets because it was still yummy & I recommend trying this at least once... My overall score for Mister Potato is: 6 out of 10... |
4) The Boba Truck
I love boba! And I love trying out new boba places as well! I really love the idea of a boba truck! And what makes this boba truck even better is the fact that they make each drink by order with fresh teas and ingredients. And that is definitely something that I greatly appreciate! All of their drinks were $5, which is a little bit higher than normal boba drinks. But honestly, I think that this was the best thing I purchased all night because I enjoyed it the most! And again, I look really excited! I tried their Thai Iced Tea or Thai Milk Tea with a mixture of Boba and Mini Boba! They used non dairy creamer in the tea which was a first for me! It was well balanced with the creamer and the tea, and the proportions were exactly the way I like it. Muy delicioso! The boba itself was good too! It was chewy, but not too firm and not too soft. It seemed to be fresh and just the right texture. I absolutely loved this drink! My overall score for this boba drink is: 9.5 out of 10... |
I am a strong believer of experience and taking risks.
My mindset has definitely evolved over time...I never used to be like that.
I feel like when you go to these kinds of events (night markets, fairs, carnivals, etc.) you kind of have to go expecting to pay a lot for food and products. Most of the time, these places serve food that is more on the expensive side. And I really don't like spending too much money on anything... But I feel like tonight, I was willing to pay a little more for these foods just because they were unique and things that I had been wanting to to taste and try. I have no regrets about the things I purchased tonight
Honestly, not every experience is going to be perfect and exactly the way you want it to be, but I think you can still gain something out of each experience. It's all about living life to its fullest and enjoying the little things in life and experiencing everything you want to. This life is about taking chances and being vulnerable...Yes, you may be disappointed, but that is better than always wondering "what if..."
Until next time,
Bri
